Food PantryThe Food Pantry is an important community resource that aims to reduce the severe hunger that exists in our community. When we began in 1993, we served almost one hundred families. Today, the need has grown and so has our service, which is now helping to feed over 300 families a month.

Each week a team of dedicated volunteers prepares and serve a healthy and tasty 3-course meal for all who come hungry. Many of our patrons are giving back by serving as volunteers in our food pantry.

The Connection Team joyfully fulfills the Church’s mission to welcome all of God’s children and transform their lives, fostering a deep sense of community within the congregation and beyond. With faith, creativity, and a heart for service, the team connects with both long-time members and newcomers, inviting many from the surrounding community into the loving embrace of First Presbyterian Church of Jamaica through special events designed to connect and uplift.

Every Sunday while parents worship the kids gather in the lower sanctuary for a time of Bible Study as well as arts and crafts.

The Goal of the Engage Team is, to reach out, encourage and engage members to participate in the various ministries within the Church so that the church can fulfill its Mission to Reach other for Christ and to transform lives.

We meet every other Friday from 6:00 pm to 8:30pm.

The Ministry’s Goal is to be inclusive as we serve families with children from grades Pre-K through 8th grade from the community as well as building-g relationship with each other and with God. Logos Motto is “I’m a Child of God and I will treat you like one.” Each Friday evening the children and adults participated in Worship Arts, Bible Study, Family time and recreation.

First Church is committed to supporting our college students' success. Each year, we offer the Incentive Grant and Service Scholarship to help cover essential educational expenses, such as books and supplies. Awards are granted to students who demonstrate a strong commitment to both achieving their highest academic potential and actively serving others along their journey.

Flowing Psalms of Praise is a powerful ministry that communicates the Word of God through visual and expressive arts. We use liturgical dance, drama, sign language, creative arts, and interpretive gestures to usher in worship.

We are committed to nurturing our members through spiritual disciplines like prayer, witnessing, Bible study, and focused dance training. Our mission is to share the transformative value of liturgical expression with congregations and pastors both locally and globally.

This ministry serves the First Presbyterian Church in Jamaica’s Church Family and Community. We reach out to our congregation and beyond to minister to and help anyone who has lost someone or something close to the heart.

The loss of someone to death, the loss of hope, the breakup of a marriage, the loss of a job, the loss of a relationship or even the loss of control of a child could be devastating.

Whatever the loss, we are here to give spiritual and hands on help and support.

We support Christian parents and caregivers in learning, adapting and embracing time-honored practices to share their Christian faith and values with their children, specifically in their homes.

Our ultimate goal is to build resilient youth whose faith bolsters their wellbeing, healthy development and engagement/contribution to the community. Recognizing barriers families face to engaging children in traditional church-based programs in the current environment, we want to give parents and caregivers the tools and confidence to recognize their own power as Christians and infuse their interactions with children – from daily living to milestones and holidays – with faith practices that resonate with and shape their families.
